Turtles

Turtles swimming around our boat. Guess that’s why they call this Green Turtle Marina.

I love it here. Went to this indoor pool today. There are also 2 outdoor pools and a courtesy car you can use for 2 hours. I am not anxious to leave tomorrow. Dinner tonight at Patti’s with some other loopers.

Nanseann farewell party

Loopers potluck party at Green Turtle Marina for Rik and Nancy Robinson on Nanseann. We went through our first lock with this great couple, rafting off with them and Satisfaction. Congratulations to Nanseann for crossing her wake! We will miss you.

Lake Barkley lock and dam

This is the deepest lock we have seen so far – 57 ft drop. We were the only boat in the lock. We have been so lucky that we have not experienced some of the lengthy waits that other boaters have. Wonderful Green Turtle Bay Marina on the other side of the lock. Hello power!!

Cumberland Island towhead anchor

This is our second night anchoring out . Our generator did not start working so there has been no coffee or hot food. Had to take Lulu in the dinghy, got mud on everything, and then she wouldn’t go. I am so looking forward to the marina. Views are beautiful but I prefer power.

Little diversion anchor out

Ohio river

We are on the Ohio River now and it is so much cleaner than the Mississippi. Our generator stopped working yesterday afternoon so it was cold dinner and no coffee this morning. We have to anchor again tonight so I hope Paul will be able to determine what the problem is. He told me to show some pioneer spirit but I don’t think I have that gene.

Hoppies

This is the last marina for 230 miles. Fern Hopkins, the owner, gives an informational presentation each afternoon. She has many warnings for what we will be dealing with the next few days. There was much debris including many large logs in the river today. Fern said it was much worse last week. Boats were stranded at Hoppies since it was too dangerous to travel.
