Waverly plantation mansion

We were able to use the courtesy car to visit Waverly Mansion in West Point,
Mississippi. This antebellum home was completed in 1852. The plantation was once the largest cotton producing farm in the state, utilizing over 1,000 slaves and sharecroppers. The cupola was used as a lookout post during the Civil War.

Columbus marina. 7 locks!

Left Bay Springs with a buddy boat, Vagabond Two. Planned on heading to Aberdeen Marina but met our friends on Estrellita in a lock. They said Aberdeen reviews were not good. They offered to make us a reservation at Columbus Marina in Columbus,MS. It was 7 locks and 77 miles but we did it. Columbus is a great marina and this is a large city with a nice downtown. Went to dinner at Huck’s with Carl and Jeanette from Vagabond Two . This was a long day and I believe that 7 locks in one day must be some kind of record for a pleasure craft.

Joe wheeler state park

We made it to Joe Wheeler, Rogersville, Alabama. The Joe Wheeler Yacht Club hosted a wonderful dinner on the docks on Saturday. This is a beautiful location but this is a state marina so there is no courtesy car to get to town for provisions. One washing machine and one shower for all these boaters.
