We were able to use the courtesy car to visit Waverly Mansion in West Point,
Mississippi. This antebellum home was completed in 1852. The plantation was once the largest cotton producing farm in the state, utilizing over 1,000 slaves and sharecroppers. The cupola was used as a lookout post during the Civil War.

Columbus marina. 7 locks!
Left Bay Springs with a buddy boat, Vagabond Two. Planned on heading to Aberdeen Marina but met our friends on Estrellita in a lock. They said Aberdeen reviews were not good. They offered to make us a reservation at Columbus Marina in Columbus,MS. It was 7 locks and 77 miles but we did it. Columbus is a great marina and this is a large city with a nice downtown. Went to dinner at Huck’s with Carl and Jeanette from Vagabond Two . This was a long day and I believe that 7 locks in one day must be some kind of record for a pleasure craft.
Bay springs marina
Flew back to Nashville Sunday evening. Left Joe Wheeler Monday morning with a plan to go back to Grand Harbor. Fueled up there and decided to continue on. Stayed at Bay Spring Marina. The little pug, Izzy, greeted us .
Nashville
We spent one night in Nashville before flying home. This is a crazy city. Had no idea there is so much to see and do here.
Goodbye Joe wheeler
The AGLCA Rendezvous ended Thursday evening. Most of the looper boats left Friday AM. We are leaving our boat and heading home for a few days.
Tennessee river
We explored the Tennessee River by dinghy. This area is very pretty. One afternoon we saw 3 racoons fishing by the side of the river . Seems like we see deer every time we go out.
AGLCA dinner
Had our first America’s Great Loop Cruisers Association dinner. There are seminars and activities scheduled for the next 3 days.
Trails at Joe wheeler
Joe Wheeler has about 4 miles of wooded hiking trails. We were able to get some exercise when it wasn’t raining. Alabama doesn’t seem to have as many mosquitoes as Michigan.
Joe wheeler state park
We made it to Joe Wheeler, Rogersville, Alabama. The Joe Wheeler Yacht Club hosted a wonderful dinner on the docks on Saturday. This is a beautiful location but this is a state marina so there is no courtesy car to get to town for provisions. One washing machine and one shower for all these boaters.
Wilson and wheeler locks
Two locks today. Wilson has a 93 foot drop. Not a good place if you are the least bit claustrophobic. We went through both with no problem.
