Paul and Gerry crossed the gulf and completed the trip ahead of schedule. We are at Legacy Marina in Fort Myers. What a great trip!
Month: November 2014
Apalachicola
This is my last port. Gerry Odom is driving my car down and he will take over my position. Paul and Gerry will do the gulf crossing and continue to Ft Myers. Lulu and I will take the car.
This is a great town. There are some nice shops and many good restaurants. This town is known for oysters. I don’t know why I didn’t take more pictures.
I am sad to say goodbye to looper friends but looking forward to the rendezvous we ate planning at Legacy Marina in Ft Myers. It was a great trip.
Paul is now in charge of the blog!
Houseboats for rent near Apalachicola
Panama City
Docked in downtown Panama City. It was the last First Friday celebration for the year. The main street was closed and they had several singers, bands and other entertainment. People at
the marina were very nice but showers could certainly use some help. These people should see Duncan Bay.
Fort Walton Beach
Five looper boats are here at Fort Walton Beach. The city docks are free. There is no power but they do have water and a free pump out is available. We are all going to dinner at Ali’s Bistro tonight. The weather today was cloudy with a little rain but the trip here was nice. Warm temperatures and lots of dolphin sightings.
Palafox Marina
Arrived at Palafox Marina, downtown Pensacola. Had a bit of a scare coming in. One of our engines quit and we had to come in on only one. Turned out to be a minor issue so all is well. Paul went to the Air Museum and I stayed here to do the laundry and see downtown Pensacola. Very nice area with many great restaurants. Unfortunately, we will only be here one evening. Once again, I could stay longer.
Lulu’s
Docked and had a great lunch at Lucy Buffet”s restaurant in Gulf Shores. Thought of Sue and Bill when I. Saw Krispy Kreme bread pudding.
Fairhope, alabama
It was a long day on the water but we made it to Fairhope. Met some boaters here that live in Bay Harbor. Had a great dinner with them at Tamara’s. I had crab encrusted grouper. Walked around downtown Fairhope the next day and had lunch at Panini Pete’s. This is a very cute town.
Last lock!
It was 29 degrees when we left Bobby’s. There was ice on the front of the boat and on the dinghy. Called the lock and the cranky lockmaster was going to make us wait for tows that were up the river. However, kindly tow operator suggested he let the 3 PC’s lock through. Saved hours of travel for the long day ahead. I am celebrating my LAST lock for the Ft. Myers trip. Hooray!
Bobby’s fish camp
We were lucky to get space to dock at Bobby’s Fish Camp. There is only room for about 5 boats. This is the last place to get fuel before Mobile Bay. Had their famous fried catfish. Great southern experience.
